Ofsted and Performance Data

Our schools were inspected in January 2023 and November 2023. We have been awarded a grade of Good. Please find below our most recent Ofsted reports and relevant information from the Department for Education Performance Tables.

Both schools have been awarded a grade of 'Good'. Key strengths which have been identified include:

  •     Pupils feel safe, behave well and work hard in lessons

  •     By the time pupils leave at the end of Year 4, their attainment in English and mathematics is above that typically expected for their age

  •     Children get off to a good start in the Nursery and Reception Class

  •     The school's warm and caring family atmosphere is greatly valued by pupils, staff and parents

  •     Teaching is good and every pupil's progress is closely tracked

  •     The school provides good quality special activities to help pupils catch up

  •     Pupils experience a wide range of stimulating activities

  •     The headteacher and governing body provide a clear direction for the development of the school

Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) : As Church of England VA First Schools, both schools in our federation are inspected every three years by a SIAMS inspector.  Barley school was last inspected under the 2016 SIAMS framework and was judged good. Barkway School was inspected in September 2024 under the newly revised September 2024 SIAMS Framework.  We were judged as "J1": The inspection findings indicate that the school is living up to its foundation as a Church school, and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.
