Oak Class - Nursery and Reception children
The main point of entry for both year groups is September. Our Nursery children are offered a morning session that includes lunchtime provision, therefore enables us to offer in excess of 15 hours provision per week. We have a flexible timetable to allow us to meet the needs and interests of all our children, although some areas stay the same.
Children in the Foundation Stage follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. We provide a creative curriculum for the children which is exciting, relevant, broad and balanced. Through careful planning, local visits and the use of highly motivating resources, we aim to take the children's learning forward in an atmosphere of enjoyment and challenge. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoor and outside.
The organisation is such that lessons are largely practical with an emphasis on active learning and learning through play, and cover all seven areas of development within the EYFS.

Ultimately our curriculum is designed to ensure every child is able to start his/her journey as a lifelong learner positively, confidently and successfully. We also seek to work in partnership with parents to develop a strong home/school link to last the child throughout their school years.
Children’s learning development and achievements are monitored with continuous assessment by staff on daily activities. Observations on where and with whom your child plays and how they learn and play are also made. These observations form part of our assessment that will tell you about your child’s progress throughout the EYFS.
It is important in the foundation stage that we build children’s learning on subjects that they enjoy and are interested in, therefore weekly plans may change to become relevant to the children’s interest. All weekly plans are displayed on the foundation notice board.
