Key Stage 2 - Sycamore Class - Year 4

Welcome to Year 4 - Sycamore Class

Sycamore Class is a fantastic and inspiring place. Situated in the original part of the school, our class features high roofs, large windows and even a working bell!

Mr Davies is our class teacher and Miss Foster is the class assistant.

Being a small school, we take pride that we always strive to display the work produced by the children.

Our English work

Using the latest Windows 10 operating System, our year 4 pupils learn many useful computer skills such using the internet to research, Word Processing, Art and animation, as well as full access to the various websites we subscribe to, such as PurpleMash and Mathletics. The pupils have access to computer technology throughout the week as well as a dedicated IT lesson on Fridays.

There are even two fully working computers with all their components on show to allow the children to see inside!

Within the Sycamore class, we have a working wall that really does work.

Vendredi, les enfants ont des cours de français avec Mme Brown!

We might only be a small school however, this makes us agile and able to try new things. I believe you are only limited by your imagination and this has allowed me to create a classroom that has both a traditional and a modern feel.

Homework includes daily reading for at least 15 minutes, topic homework on alternate weeks, spellings and maths using Mathletics.

Our topic work

PE and Swimming

Sycamore Class have two and a half hours of PE from specialist coaches every week. Swimming on a Monday is at Royston leisure centre, dance with Mr Sapsed on Wednesday and multi-skills on Thursday is with Mr Taylor.

Instrumental Music Lessons

Every week, as part of their music education, the year 4 children have a class lesson on the cornet with a performance scheduled for every term. This is proving very enjoyable and as we encourage practice, the instruments are taken home every week.
